Another tool you might find useful is screencasting, which enables you to easily record a video (and audio if you wish) of your screen to demonstrate a particular function – useful for sharing with other people.
I had hoped to stick to using web tools so was planning to use ScreenToaster but unfortunately the service is currently down, so I’m using Jing which is a free download and lets you take screenshot images or videos. Here’s a very quick and dirty screencast of how to create a Twtpoll which was a previous thing (if you haven’t voted in the poll yet, please do – it’s open until 12th Dec).
I found it really easy to create this using Jing – are there any other screencasting tools you would recommend?

I recommend http://www.screencast-o-matic.com. Free and really easy to use. Used it for lots of screencasts for induction this year, and has easy upload to YouTube.

Thanks Alison, I haven’t heard of that one before but just watched the introductory video – looks very simple to use and good to have the option to easily upload it to YouTube with various different options. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

I loved Jing, found it really easy to use (and I like the pretty sun hoevering on my screen). But now I can’t seem to download the videos for editing on the free account I am less keen. It is not exactly expensive to upgrade, but I thought I’d check around before I buy.
I have been trying out BB Flashback as Phil Bradley recommended. It costs a little more, but there is good added functionality available for tutorials. But can’t seem to get the little video of me synched up with the audio – I think it might be my PC. This post is definitely worth a look for more alternatives:

ScreenToaster was perfect, but seems to be up and down all over the place.

Thanks for sharing your experiences Helen, I’ll definitely check out the link to Phil’s blog post. Not sure I’d be willing to pay for a service personally, though can understand if it is part of organisation’s core offering.
